Can a Church Clergy Serve as a Counselor for Some Personal Issues?
by chris.corwin
Question by ! Pattie !: Can a church clergy serve as a counselor for some personal issues?
I have some personal issues and I want to talk to someone about them. My church clergy is a very nice, compassionate person and my question is, would it be appropriate to talk to them about sexual abuse? Would they be a good kind of counselor/ “therapist” for this? If anyone has confided in a church clergy on this issue, what was your experience?

They could, but they are not trained professionals – they are just clergy. I would not discuss sexual abuse with clergy. Their best advice is to pray about it. That is BS. Get a real counselor if you have a real problem.

“Find a Therapist” – Easy Complicated Searches! (Demo #2) – MarpleCrossCentre.co.uk In August, 2012, The Marple Cross Centre introduced a powerful online service to help people find the potentially best therapists for their needs. Confidential, easy-to-use, and fast, the service allows you to define the type of therapy you may like … and in real-time a list of matching therapists are presented for your consideration. In this video, I give a demonstration of the service easily handling more complicated/involved criteria (eg find a therapist who works with couples, on a Monday evening, working in a systemic family model for not more than £50)
