You favor helping those with extreme depression in the sense that they can be deemed disabled, not have to work, and collect a free check every month.

Your job is to argue why your depression makes you disabled in the sense that you can’t work although your physically capable. In addition, please argue why staying at home and getting disability helps you get any better in terms of not being depressed, it appears this strengthen the mentality having it formally recognized.

Personally I believe labeling depression as a disability and allowing those to make disability claims is counter productive to rehabilitation, many doctors conquer.

Your job is to play devils advocate, can you?
Can you create any compelling arguments or statements as to why 25% who go to the doctor claiming depression, don’t have to work and are labeled disabled?
Pragmatic, how about you actually look at the formal statistics concerning depression as a disability.

25% of those diagnosed with depression are currently drawing aide from the government as a direct result.

You state it’s “rare” 25% aka 1/4 of depression candidates draw disability benefit. Your facts are wrong therefore your assertions are worthless.

Pragmatic, the statistics say 1 out of 4, I would agree with you if it were maybe 1 out of 25 or 50 get the benefit.

Those statistics speak in volumes, volumes in which you’re not realizing.
I want counterpoints but no need mention ignorance like pragmatic which is why I went after him/her. This is and always has been a hot button issue and there is no right or wrong answer.

‘Depression” is a luxury only afforded to those who can afford it. Work or starve? Most if not all would work. Work or the govt. will support you? Most will gladly rape tax payers paychecks to sit around watching tv and eating all day.
Depression is a choice, choose it and choose misery.
Stealing from mentaly ill physically disabled and our veterans is a sin, that only the most selfish monster could commit. The next time someones case of the blues really gets them down, they should go look at a govt run institution and how badly those people have it.
