I Am Concerned for My Partner Who Is Almost 6 Months Into Grieving Death of a Loved One?
Question by red110829: I am concerned for my partner who is almost 6 months into grieving death of a loved one?
I don’t want to be (nor am I qualified) to be a therapist. I am finding it increasingly difficult to enforce healthy emotional boundaries, am growing concerned they are stagnating in their grief, and have doubts they’ll be able to live a meaningful life. Everything I’ve read indicates the bereaved do not “get over” a loss but live on, incorporating the loss into their new life. They grow and change with the loss. I fear they’re not growing nor changing, refusing to accept the reality of the loss. I am not angry about this, but I also am not a depressed person – I love life and living and am not “coping” day to day. I think I need some real help dealing with the situation. The loss occurred six months ago and I don’t expect “results” or measurable improvements – but I also perceive withdrawing more and more socially, ending therapy as signs they’re retracting and backpedaling. Any good books for this? I need expert advice. Thank you
Obviously, a therapist can help – I was hoping there might be some other constructive ideas (anectdotal or otherwise) out there in this forum.

if you need expert advice, you need to see an expert, start with a cognitive behavioral therapist.
