Do You Think It’s Appropriate to Talk About God and the Afterlife to a Man Who Lost His Wife and Kids?
Question by John: Do you think it’s appropriate to talk about God and the afterlife to a man who lost his wife and kids?
I was at a x-mas dinner with my girlfriend and her work colleagues. There were a bunch of people there and in our corner of the table there were 2 interesting people. There was a man there who had one of the most horrific life stories I had ever heard. Wife died of cancer and his 2 children died in a traffic accident. I wouldn’t be able to get out of bed.
And there was this woman there. The most annoying woman I had ever met. She was very spiritual and very keen on everyone knowing it. People were talking and she was standing with me when we were told about the man and his family so she knew what was going on. I think she got uncomfortable. But all she talked about during the whole dinner was about God, how everyone ends up in heaven and things like that. She said something and the man stood up, gave her the coldest look and said that he lost his appetite and then he left. What the hell is wrong with some people? Is it just me or was her actions really inappropriate? There is a time and place for everything…This was not it.
