Is It Illegal to Sleep in Your Car in Santa Barbara?

Question by lovescalifornia: Is it illegal to sleep in your car in Santa Barbara?
I have a home. I know in Venice Beach there is a homeless problem. It is absurd and I can’t hang around in that scene at all. I must return to my quiet home on the range. But I do like the freedom to rest for a while sometimes after driving. I see mailmen and UPS guys taking a little cat-nap sometimes. In LA its too hot. However I don’t want to run afoul of the law.

I think designated rest stops along freeways are the only legal places to nap. If you have to sleep though, just leave a map on the seat so anyone walking by seeing your a traveler. Stay safe by staying in populated spots so you dont get robbed.
