Educational level. A therapist needs only a certificate of competency to practice. A psychologist (correct spelling) needs a master’s degree in psychology as a minimum to practice. A psychiatrist (correct spelling) must have a medical degree (M.D.) and must have his residency in the specialized area of psychiatry.
