How Does This Form of Counseling Help People?
Question by Mona Realm: How does this form of counseling help people?
I’ve been through three female counselors in 5yrs and none of them helped me. Why? all they did was listen. It was like going to a friend to talk.
Finally I got up the nerve to go to a male counselor and he’s actually doing his job! He gives me homework, asks me questions, stays on one topic(for me self esteem) and helps me understand why I think and do the things I do and gives me suggestions on how to over come them. Now THATS counseling!
Can you explain how what those three women are doing are helping some people? Didn’t help me at all!

Finding a good therapist can be like finding the ‘right guy’. It’s a question of ‘meshing’ with people. Sometimes you just can’t do it. I went through 10 therapists before I found a perfect one and it’s a she.
Maybe you relate better to men? Good luck.
