Question by Kristian: What are the reasons why others wont allow their parents to remarry after the death of their spouse?

In my opinion and studies in psych, it seems these people are very selfish, have some almost pathological need to believe that their family unit is still intact despite the death and feel like they need to exert some control in response to the grief of losing a parent.
