The Orthopedic / Amputee Rehabilitation Programs at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital – The goal of Burke’s Orthopedic Rehabilitation Program is to return you home ready to resume an active, productive lifestyle following orthopedic injury or surgery. www.burke.org Most of our patients return home within one or two weeks. We serve adolescent through elderly patients with diagnoses such as joint arthroplasty, knee replacement, hip resurfacing, lower extremity fracture, and multiple traumas. Within a safe, secure and structured environment, you will receive intensive therapy five to six times a week. Rehabilitation nursing and access to a physician is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Orthopedic Team is committed to: 1. Providing comprehensive, patient-focused rehabilitation through an interdisciplinary approach based on communication, collaboration and cooperation. 2. Removing or lessening restrictions to participation in life situations to the extent possible. 3. Preparing the individual, family and caregivers for transition to the next stage of the rehabilitation process. The goal of Burke’s Amputee Rehabilitation Program is to speed your healing, restore your confidence and provide you with the skills to return home and live as independently as possible after an amputation. The two-phase program begins immediately following surgery. In the first phase, focus is on pain control, healing, emotional support and preparing the limb for prosthesis.
