How Do Doctors Know if You Need Antidepressants?
Question by b r i b r i :]: How do doctors know if you need antidepressants?
I’ve been seeing a therapist and I’m fairly sure that I have depression.
He’s technically only a “family and marriage counselor” and I have no idea what degrees he has. (I’m sure my mom does.)
I think medication might be of help to me, but I’m not sure.
How do doctors know if you need it or not?
&Should I say something to my therapist?

You should definitely talk to your therapist about your depression.
But in my opinion when it comes to medication, especially psychiatric meds, you should consider seeing a Clinical Psychologist or as a last resort, a Psychiatrist. They are experienced and will know if you need to take anything. regualr G.P’s are not always a good choice.
