How Do I Phrase This Sympathy Note…?

Question by ?Remy?: How do I phrase this sympathy note…?
I am a high school student and one of my teachers just sent out an e-mail to my class letting us know that he will not be in school for awhile due to the death of his father. It feels inappropriate not to send condolences, but I’m worried that the very typical “My deepest sympathy for your loss” type of note is too formal and sort of awkward in this situation. So that just leaves me with the question of how do I go about writing this note? (and by note I do mean e-mail)

you really shouldnt send via email.. find out his address and mail a card

there is nothing wrong with saying my deepest sympathy for your loss.

last card i sent, i said something like ‘dear _____, my condolences on the loss of your father”
that is fine to say too.

What do you think? Answer below!
