Can a Pet Deposit Be Waived for Emotional Support and Therapy Animals?

Question by Baffled101: Can a pet deposit be waived for emotional support and therapy animals?
At my apartment, my landlord needs a doctor’s letter to waive the pet deposit. However the center I go to for counseling “does not like to write doctor’s letters for service animals” my counselor said. She told me it was because the counseling facility does not like to feel reliable for these animals. Now, could I get a letter from her stating it will be an emotional support animal for the means of waiving the pet deposit? (There is no way I could affford $ 200 for a pet deposit.
If that would work then, I know the facility would work with me in getting the animal certified so that they can write the service animal letter.
Also, is this something possibly a Community Service Office could help with? (The “Pet” Deposit) If I’m unable to recieve a letter?
