Is There No Such Thing as a Professional Job Title of a “counselor”? Just a Social Worker or a MFT?

Question by amcfan2010: Is there no such thing as a professional job title of a “counselor”? Just a social worker or a MFT?
I’m a little confused about this. I know both jobs are counseling, but I was just wondering if a job title of a counselor exists.

“Counselor” is a job title, which means that the employer hires “counselors”.

Some states may issue “counselor” licenses.

In California and some other states a lawyer is officially an “attorney and counselor at law”, but that is an entirely different matter 😉
