Mormon’s Don’t “counsel” on Pets and the Afterlife?
Question by Misty: Mormon’s don’t “counsel” on pets and the afterlife?
Momons believe our pets have spirits and go to heaven but I have read the Mormon Church doesn’t “counsel” people on it. What does this mean? If you spoke to a Mormon leader about your grief on pet loss you would be rejected since they
don’t “counsel” people on it? Thank you.

It means that we don’t have a lot of doctrine about pets in the afterlife.
We care about all people and we would certainly speak to a person anytime they are having a difficult time – I’m generally the first one sent to any house where anybody is having a hard time and everybody has different challenges and troubles in their life. But you won’t be offered advice like “you will live with your pet again one day” because that’s not part of the revealed gospel.
