After reading A Death in the Delta: The Story of Emmett Till I was intrigued by the question from the ending paragraph in the book “And the very turpitude of the deed committed one Sabbath morning posed anew the ineluctable query of Dostoevsky’s Grand Inquisitor: how is it possible to explain the death of a single child?”. What does he mean by this exactly? What was he trying to ask? And what exactly is the answer?
