Comments on “an Introvert’s Guide to Grieving” (A Poem I Wrote About Death)?

Question by Vylette Skie: comments on “An Introvert’s Guide to Grieving” (a poem i wrote about death)?
A snake,
that’s how you’ll feel at 2 am
you knew you shouldn’t have picked up the phone
but three real seconds later
there you are feeling the chill wash over you as
your old skin slips away

The next morning the lady in the coffee shop
might ask you about your day
and you’ll want to tear your heart out
to show her a crumpled paper
But instead you smile sweeter than the sprinkled
doughnut you just bought

Outside December will burn blue
as purposeful footprints are everywhere in the snow
and you begin to walk alongside them,
going nowhere in particular

The sun will still shine and the birds will still sing
but all you can see are the tiny frays of black in the sky
which you want to secretly slip through
and all you can hear are the missing notes
gone like a fleeting glance

Finally when you get home
you’ll ignore the phone that’s still ringing
and you’ll collapse onto your chair
waiting for the sun to go
so the world will disappear too

I like this very much. I just don’t care for the part about feeling like a snake at 2 A.M. I get it! I know how you used it. It’s just that feeling like a snake implies terrible wrong-doing. Maybe, choose an animal that likes to burrow into a hole or something? Other than that? This poem is really good!
